Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said there was a possibility that electric vehicles used by state guests at the G20 Summit in Bali would be converted into official vehicles for government officials after the event was over.
This is in accordance with the wishes of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who instructed his staff to use battery-based electric vehicles as operational service vehicles at both the central and regional government levels. Jokowi’s instructions have been stated in Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2022 which comes into force on September 13, 2022. The use of these electric service vehicles can take advantage of the purchase, lease or conversion scheme of fuel vehicles. A series of events for the G20 Summit itself is planned to be held on November 15-16, 2022.
Ma’ruf said the implementation of Jokowi’s instructions regarding battery-based electric service vehicles would be carried out in stages and pursue a priority scale. Bali is one of the areas in Indonesia besides Jakarta which is a priority for the implementation of the use of electric vehicles. Bali is said to be starting this with the G20 summit which Ma’ruf called as part of the ‘trial that we want to implement’.
