Government Policy Shifts as Omicron Raise

Indonesia is experiencing a spike in Covid infections that is largely attributable to Omicron strain (jumped from 3000 on Jan 24 to 16000 on Feb 1). Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister, Luhut Pandjaitan, said the government today shifts its’ focus from containing the virus to limiting hospitalization and death rates.

Because of the relative mildness of Omicron cases, fully vaccinated international travellers now only subjected to 5 days of quarantine. The shorten time of quarantine time also makes the government able to reallocate resources. Places previously used to quarantine travellers, will now be used for centralized isolation.
