Indonesia needs a greater sense of urgency and sustainable supportive legislation, experts say, to boost investment and meet its ambitious oil and gas production targets by 2030, as competition with other countries gets even tougher. The country aims to boost its oil and gas production to 1 million barrels of oil per day (bopd) and 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscfd) of gas in 2030 in an effort to reduce imports and meet the country’s increasing energy demand. If the target is met, the upstream oil and gas sector will achieve the largest production volume of oil and gas on record in Indonesia.
