Paving the Way to Global Tourism Recovery

Indonesia in the current presidency of G20 has been taking steps to promote more resilient and sustainable tourism concepts focusing on empowerment of local people, communities, and MSMEs. More than half of G20 members inclusive empowerment efforts benefits rural communities and preservation of local environment.

In view of this, the G20 countries should pool their experience and seize the acceleration of digitalization, the growth of knowledge-based economy, and people’s appetite for diversified and higher-value tourism. Besides, community-based tourism which banks on indigenous culture and creative economy should be promoted.
