Prabowo and Retno Marsudi Hold Closed Meeting with Emmanuel Macron

Indonesia's Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, were warmly received by French President in Paris.

Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi were welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris. The meeting occurred behind closed doors following a two plus two meeting between the defense and foreign ministries of Indonesia and France. Additionally, they also met with French Minister of Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Cahterine Colonna. Sébastien Lecornu, the French Minister of Armed Forces, shared a video of the meeting on his official Twitter account @SebLecornu, where Prabowo Subianto and Retno Marsudi were seen being greeted by both Lecornu and Colonna. During the meeting, they discussed the strategic partnership between Indonesia and France. Prabowo emphasized that the defense cooperation between the two nations under President Jokowi's administration had been exemplary. In this 2+2 meeting, both Retno and Defense Minister Prabowo met with their French counterparts, the Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministers of France. It was a noteworthy occasion, as Indonesia had not engaged in many 2+2 meetings previously. This meeting with France was the first of its kind with a European country and also the first with one of the P5 countries, highlighting the strategic importance of the relationship between Indonesia and France.
