A number of hospitals in DKI Jakarta and Banten received assistance in the form of 210 tons of Liquid Oxygen from PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (Chandra Asri) in collaboration with PT Air Liquide Indonesia (ALINDO), a gas supplier company for industry and health.
The liquid oxygen aid, which is supported by the Ministry of Industry, is planned to be distributed to several units of Mayapada Hospital in DKI Jakarta and other hospitals in Jakarta and Banten which are members of the All-Indonesian Regional Hospital Association (ARSADA).
The soaring number of COVID-19 cases has led to an increase in oxygen demand. The Ministry of Industry has stated that it will increase oxygen production to 922.9 tons per day.
Currently, the maximum national oxygen production capacity is recorded at 1,700 tons per day whose supply is expected to continue to increase to meet oxygen supply.
Data from the Ministry of Health states that the demand for medical oxygen gas in Indonesia is currently more than 1,000 tons per day. Whereas previously it was only around 400 tons per day or 25 percent of the total production of oxygen gas in Indonesia. However, given the ongoing increase in cases, the government anticipates the need for oxygen to increase to 2,600 tons per day.
