The government has finally adjusted its economic growth forecast for the current year: the gross domestic product (GDP) should only increase by 2.5%, against 4% forecast in the budget voted at the end of last year. The new figure is slightly more optimistic than that of the Banque de France, which expects 2.3% growth.
On the other hand, the public deficit should not increase, despite the billions of euros spent by the government to support the purchasing power of the French. It is still expected to reach 5% of GDP in 2022, as expected at the end of 2021.
